Top 10 United States Aid Recipients In Africa

The United States provides foreign aid that benefits numerous African recipients, with over $43 billion of total obligations going to 222 countries around the world in 2015.

Much of this goes to assisting countries in sub-Saharan and North Africa, with USAID funding countless programs for the good of people within those nations.

The aid goes towards assisting with basic health, education, conflict prevention, emergency response, agriculture and other important issues that require financial resources to address.

1. Egypt – 1.2 Billion

Egypt ranks Highest among African US Aid recipients.
Majority of the aid received by Egypt goes into Conflict peace and unity.

2. Ethiopia – 1.1 Billion Dollars

After Egypt, Ethiopia is the second highest receiver of United states Aid in Africa, and the highest receiver of United States Aid in East Africa.

The money is used mainly for Emergency response, HIV/AIDS, developmental food aid/food security assistance.

3. Kenya – 1.1 Billion Dollars

Kenya is the second highest receiver of United States Aid in East Africa and most of the money is used For curbing the menace of HIV/AIDS, Peace, conflict and security, Emergency response.

4. Uganda – 741 Million Dollars

The money is distributed mostly among this sectors: HIV/AIDS, Emergency Response, Basic Health, Maternal and Child Health, Family Planning, Agriculture.

5. Ghana – 724 Million Dollars

Used mostly for General Budget support, which included Energy Agriculture, Basic Health.

6. Nigeria – 718 Million Dollars

The Giant of Africa, and Africa’s largest economy is ranked 6th highest receiver of United states Aid in Africa.. and most of the money received is used in curbing HIV/AIDS, Emergency Response, Basic Health, Maternal and Child Health, Family Planning.

7. Tanzania – 629 Million Dollars

For Population policies and Productive health, HIV/AIDS, Basic Health, Basic Education, Agriculture.

8. South Africa – 597 Million Dollars

For Population policies and Productive health, HIV/AIDS, Basic Health, Basic Education, Agriculture.

9. Mozambique – 514 Million Dollars

For Population policies and Productive health, HIV/AIDS, Basic Health, Basic Education.

10. Liberia – 574 Million Dollars

For General budget support including but not limited to Operating Expenses, Maternal and Child Health, Family Planning, Government and Civil Society, Water Supply and Sanitation.
