Over 100 million views

With a record 100 million views and counting, “ Personally,” the 2014 hit song by the now defunct music duo of Nigerian celebrity twins Peter and Paul Okoye is the 8th most watched Nigerian music video on YouTube.

P-SQUARE

P-Square used to be a Nigerian R&B duo of identical twin brothers Peter Okoye and Paul Okoye. They produced and released their albums through Square Records until September 2017.

On 25 September 2017, numerous media outlets reported that the group disbanded. Reports about a breakup surfaced after Peter reportedly sent a termination letter to the group’s lawyer. Prior to this report, the duo disbanded in 2016, supposedly over a disagreement about the role of their manager.

9. Burna Boy – Ye

Over 102 million views

‘Ye’ video is Burna boy’s second most viewed music video ever on YouTube. It’s also the song that shot him into the limelight. The video currently has a whopping 102 million views.

8. Korede Bello – Do Like That

Over 105 million views

As at the time this song was released, it was the most played song on both TV and radio. Nominations garnered by ‘Do like that’ include; City People Music Award for Music Producer of the Year, City People Music Award for Popular Song of the Year.

Korede Bello started performing at the age of 7 and went by the stage name African Prince.

He started music professionally by recording songs in the studio while in secondary school, and eventually released his first single “Forever”.

He got signed to Mavin Records On 28 February 2014, and then went ahead to record popular songs like “African Princess”, “Godwin” and “Do like that” (which is currently the 8th most viewed Nigerian music video on youtube).

He is currently working on his first studio album.

7. Davido – If

Over 114 Million views

With a record view of over 114 million views, IF by Davido can be said to be one of his best songs so far. This song was so hot R-kelly just couldn’t resist jumping on it.

6. Runtown – Mad Over You

Over 110 million views

This here is the one song that propelled Runtown internationally. Back in 2017, this song was the most popular song in Nigeria. The song currently has a staggering 110 million views on Youtube.

Runtown was born on 19 August 1989 in Enugu but grew up partly in Abuja and Lagos, where he finished his primary education.

In 2014 he released “Gallardo”, a song which features vocals from Davido and was released as the first single off his debut studio album Ghetto University.

Gallardo went on to win “Best Collaboration of the Year” at the 2014 edition of the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

On 23 November 2015, Runtown released his debut studio album titled Ghetto University via MTN Music Plus through Eric Many Entertainment. The album generated over ₦35million on the music portal thus earning him a spot in the list of “Top 5 Most Streamed Artist”.

5. Yemi Alade – Johnny

Over 121 million views

Yemi made her debut in the music scene in 2009, but it was until 2014 that she released this song and everyone was just blown away. The hit song ‘Johnny’ currently holds YouTube record of the most watched African Female (secular) video of all time And the fifth most watched Nigerian music video of all time.

Yemi Alade’s debut studio album King of Queens was released on October 2, 2014, by Effyzzie Music Group. The album was preceded by three singles: “Johnny”, “Tangerine” and “Kissing”.

The deluxe edition of King of Queens was released in November 2014, and contains French versions of songs originally performed in English.

Alade’s second studio album Mama Africa was released on March 25, 2016, by Effyzzie Music Group. The album is the follow-up to her debut studio album King of Queens (2014).

In July 2019, Alade was featured on “Don’t Jealous Me”, a track from Beyoncé’s compilation album The Lion King: The Gift. She appeared on the track alongside Mr Eazi and Tekno. Rolling Stone magazine revealed that Alade also recorded a verse for an earlier version of “My Power” in June.

Pana is the fourth most viewed Nigerian music video on youtube and the seventh most viewed African music video on YouTube.

Tekno Miles was first signed under K-Money Entertainment. His first single titled “Holiday” was released under the imprint. With featured vocals from Davido, “Holiday” was positively accepted and gained massive airplay.

In October 5, 2013, he signed a recording contract with Made Men Music Group under which he released singles like “Dance” and “Anything” which won him a nomination in the “Best New act of the Year” category at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

On June 18, 2015, Tekno Miles released his hit single titled “Duro” which was positively received both in Africa and in the USA.

In July 2019, Tekno was featured on “Don’t Jealous Me”, a track from Beyoncé’s compilation album The Lion King: The Gift, alongside Yemi Alade and Mr Eazi.

3. Burna Boy – On The Low

Over 152 Million views

“On the Low” was released on November 16, 2018. It is a fusion of Afrobeat and dancehall. The song was produced by Kel P and has been described as a mid-tempo love song. The accompanying music video for “On the Low” was shot and directed by Meji Alabi. Currently the video is the 3rd most watched Nigerian music video on YouTube.

2. Sinachi – Way Maker (Nigeria)

Over 157 million views

Sinach, is a Nigerian-born gospel music singer, songwriter, and senior worship leader at Loveworld. Her song, “Way Maker”, is her most popular song till date judging from its views. Way maker video was directed by Ose Iria.

In 2017, she was inducted into the Bethlehem Hall of Fame, joining Dwayne Johnson, Pope Benedict XVI and a host of other internationally recognized celebrities on the listed.

Over 180 million views

This song here is the one song that propelled Davido internationally. The song currently has a whopping 180 million views on Youtube making it the most viewed Nigerian Music Video on YouTube and the 5th most viewed African music video on Youtube.

Fall was produced by Kiddominant who was also behind hits like “Fela in Versace” and “the Money” Ft. Olamide.

DAVIDO

Born in Atlanta and raised in Lagos, Davido made his music debut as a member of the music group KB International.

He studied business administration at Oakwood University before dropping out to make beats and record vocal references.

Davido rose to fame in 2011 with the release of “Dami Duro”, the second single from his debut studio album Omo Baba Olowo (2012).

The album also contained six additional singles: “Back When”, “Ekuro”, “Overseas”, “All of You”, “Gbon Gbon”, and “Feel Alright”.

In 2012, Davido won The Headies Award for Next Rated. Between 2013 and 2015, he released the hit singles “Gobe”, “One of a Kind”, “Skelewu”, “Aye”, “Tchelete (Goodlife)” featuring Mafikizolo, “Naughty” featuring DJ Arafat, “Owo Ni Koko”, “The Sound” and “The Money” featuring Olamide.

In January 2016, Davido announced on Twitter that he signed a record deal with Sony Music.

Few months after signing with Sony, Davido founded the Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) record label. Dremo and Mayorkun are currently signed to the label.

In 2017 after he restructured his contract with Sony, Davido released five singles, including “If” and “Fall”. The former generated worldwide social media activity, while the latter became the longest-charting Nigerian pop song in Billboard history.

His most recent project “Blow my Mind”, features American pop-star Chris Brown.
