Way Maker, the critically-acclaimed song written by Nigeria’s own Sinach has won the song of the year at Dove Awards 2020 in the United States.

Way maker was originally released by Sinach in 2015, but it re-gained popularity in the last year after being covered by Michael W. Smith and others.

Sinach performed the song during the awards show with Leeland and Mandisa.

She expressed her delight and gratitude in an Instagram post earlier today.

Dove Awards is organised by the Gospel Music Association, GMA, of the United States, and has been acclaimed one of the biggest gospel music awards in the world.

Sinach's 'Way Maker' Is The Song Of The Year At The 51st Dove Awards 2020

The Song of the Year Category, which is actually the biggest and flagship of the awards, is given to a songwriter and the publisher adjudged to have produced what is way above the class of competitors.

‘Way Maker’ is now acclaimed the first song written by a Nigerian gospel artiste to win the award.

Way Maker is also among the top 10 most watched Nigeria music video on YouTube.
