5 Sure and Tested Ways To Stay Awake When Studying

1. Splash cold water on your face
This works magic, whenever you are reading and you feel the slippery hands of sleep crawling towards you, all you need do is take a brief break and splash cold water on your face.
The cold water helps you get rid of eye fatigue which is usually caused by staring at your book for long hours.
2. Excercise your eye
Eye strain is one of the most annoying symptoms of drowsiness and it is also caused by staring at your book for long hours. You can Prevent it by exercising your eyes -roll them up and down, side to side – every few minutes when studying.
3. Expose yourself to sunlight
When you feel the warm hands of sleep knocking on your door, Go outside and expose yourself to sun light.
#fact: The more light your body is exposed to, the more active and alert it will be.
Exposing yourself to artificial lights around you for a while would have almost the same effect.
4. Engage yourself in a physical activity no matter how brief
Physical activity is a great way to fight sleepiness. When you feel like sleeping, drop down and do some push-ups, pull-ups, or you can just walk around. With this you get to read and at same time get in shape.
Using this technique is a great way of killing two birds with one stone.
5. Stand Up While Studying
What’s even more effective than all the tricks above is when you stand up while studying; hard, but it works magic, as it is virtually impossible to fall asleep while standing, also the constant shifting of weight also keeps you wide awake.
Creating a regular and healthy sleeping routine is far better as it will help prevent you from having to force yourself to stay awake. Ergo If you have plans to study in the night ensure you have enough rest during the day and vice versa.
