2 Nigerians arrested in India for at least 15 online frauds

The Cyber Crime Cell of Pune police has arrested two Nigerian scammers from their place of residence in Navi Mumbai in connection with multiple cases of advanced fee scam and online frauds, including duping women through matrimonial websites.
The team got to know of the suspects during a parallel investigation into a case registered at Chatushrungi police station in May, where a resident of Aundh had lost over Rs 58,000 from his bank account through unknown online transactions.

The police arrested the two men, identified as Odii Sadrek and Okeke Izuchukwu Ignatius, on Monday after receiving technical leads on their whereabouts.

Among the things recovered from them include; 15 cell phones, two laptops, two SIM cards and two passports.

So far, primary investigations have revealed their involvement in at least 15 other cases of online frauds, said the cyber crime cell team.
