If You Still do These Things, Stop! They are Destroying Your Teeth
There are some things you do almost everyday -if not everyday- with the best of intentions that are actually damaging your teeth without your knowing.
Here are 8 things/habits that damages your teeth.
Store them in your memory, so that you can avoid them, or at least, cut down to a minimum.
Afterall, we all want to be healthy.
1. Sugary drinks
I can’t stress this enough, stay away from sugary drinks, they are the number causage of tooth decay.
But if you must take it, it is better if you use straws.
2. Chewing ice-cream/ice
When you chew on ice-cream or ice the pressure and sudden change in temperature can place stress on your tooth enamel, causing it to crack.
3. Eating popcorn
Shocked? Im sure you are, but it’s the truth, popcorns can also damage your teeth.
When you eat popcorns, tiny Popcorn bits are lodged between your teeth and when this happens, it can lead to infection.
4. Turning your teeth into a tool
How often do you use your teeth in opening a bottle cork?
If you are in the habit of doing it frequently, please stop. It weakens your teeth.
5. Hot tea/coffe
Regular intake of hot tea or coffee can be bad for your teeth. It can cause cracks, decay in your teeth due to a sudden change in temperature.
Taking them too often also stains your teeth, giving them an unpleasant yellow colour.
6. Do you brush your teeth too vigorously
Even though it would seem like a good idea to brush hard, to scrub away all the remnants of food you’ve eaten -very typical of Africans-, it isnt.
Brushing your teeth too vigorously can wear down and weaken your tooth’s enamel.
7. Brushing your teeth right after eating or drinking something acidic
Give your teeth some time. If you brush immediately after eating or drinking something acidic, you may cause tooth wear because the enamel is softened by the acid. After an hour or so, brush gently with a soft-bristled brush..
8. Diet soda
Just because it doesn’t have sugar doesn’t mean your teeth are safe. The acidity of diet sodas is still extremely high, making it one of the worst products for your teeth.
